Colonel Robert Adams, MD, MBA completed his Navy SEALS training as a class leader of BUD/S Class 81. He served in combat in the 82nd Airborne Division whilst in Iraq, as well as in unnamed counties around the world within the Army DELTA force as an Army physician.
Using his experience and experiences in the military, Robert Adams looks back and writes about the men of his class that struggled through Hell Week together, analysing the failures and the successes during the process, as well as the reasons why the men of his BUD/S Class 81 achieved the improbable. Readers will discover these lessons and learn about what life was like in the military.
Readers will discover that Hell Week is the defining event of BUD/S training, being held on the 3rd week of the First Phase. Hell Week consists of 5 and a half days of cold, wet and brutally difficult operational training, all on less than 4 hours of sleep.
The week is designed to test physical endurance, mental toughness, pain and cold tolerance as well as teamwork, attitude and the ability to perform work under incredibly difficult circumstances and sleep deprivation. The week is so difficult that only 25% of all SEAL candidates make it through, and is regarded as the toughest training in US military.
The book is a real life story and is about the men of BUD/S Class 81 and their journey through training. The experiences are brought into view in reality and detail, with 11 of the 70 men going on to serve over 40 years in the military, with honor.
