Local Twin Cities Woman Enters Contest to Help a Family in Need and Wins Big

Wanting to help a family that is struggling financially and whose furnace was condemned by Hennepin County in Minnesota, Bonnie won a free furnace for her own family.

Apple Valley, MN December 19, 2017 – After Bonnie Hedal received notification that she had won a free Amana high-efficiency furnace, she called the family she had hoped to help, to let them know that her gift for them was on its way. The family she sought to help has four small children, one with special needs. Bonnie had entered the drawing in hopes of helping this family after she learned their furnace had been condemned by the county and they were using their oven to stay warm. She quickly learned that Hennepin County had come through with a furnace and realized that the gift she intended to give away was a blessing in disguise. Bonnie told iHeart Amana that she had, “Never won anything big like this before, so it was very exciting.”

Bonnie and her husband William had saved for a new furnace to replace the one they’ve had for forty years. However, they used their furnace fund to pay for their son’s medical expenses after he lost his battle with cancer four years earlier. In addition to the terrible loss, Bonnie was then diagnosed with and has been battling breast cancer.

iHeartAmana.com and their preferred contractors have been promoting both Amana’s products and their local HVAC businesses this season with a special free furnace offer. A group of Amana local dealers have teamed up to offer the giveaway. Blue Ox Heating and Air Conditioning of New Hope was randomly drawn for this installation. They met with Bonnie and agreed upon a cost for installation, which was not included in the prize drawing.

Blue Ox Heating and Air Conditioning installed the furnace on Tuesday, Dec. 19th, 2017. After learning of this heartwarming story, they surprised the couple by gifting the installation to them as well.
